Hey darlings!

I sat at my desk, listening to music, writing my English essay. As I finished up the sentence, I grabbed my phone to text Alicia telling her that I couldn’t come to her house, because I had homework to catch up on and check for any new messages. I had one text from Mason, and I couldn’t help but smile when I read his name on the screen. I clicked “Read” and the message popped up.

“Hey love. I’m having a party this Saturday, gonna be big! It starts at 7:00, and you can bring others too. Text me back telling me if you can come or not. :)”

I tossed my phone on my bed once I was done reading the message and called the PC. Alicia answered almost immediately, as always.

“Heyy! I got your message, it’s fine.”

Dylan’s voice came on next, then Kristen’s.

“Hey. So, I just got a message from Mason, and he’s having a party this Saturday, you’re all invited!”

“Perfect timing for a party. I just gained 3 pounds! I’m not going to look good in anything.” Dylan whined.

“Yes you are Dyl, don’t worry!” Kristen said reassuringly.

“Anyway, I need you all to come to my house after school tomorrow so you can help me pick out to wear. We also need to get our nails done.”

“I’m in!” they all said in unison.

“Apple-C!” Leesh said quickly.

“K, I have to go finish my essay, see you tomorrow.” I hung up the phone and went over to my desk to finish my English homework.

“Turn the music up!” Kristen said, as she danced around my room. Leesh walked over to the radio and turned the volume up so loud that my ears started ringing, but I didn’t care. We all started going through my clothes and picking out different outfits that I should wear to the party.

After what seemed like forever, we finally picked out an outfit.

 

“Ehmagosh! It’s perf!” Alicia said excitedly. Kristen and Dylan both bobbed their heads in agreement.

“Do you think it’ll impress Mason?” I said nervously.

“Definitely! But, remember, Mason loves you just the way you are.” Kristen put a comforting hand on my shoulder.

“Well, I have to go, I promised my mom I would be home by now to help her out with something.” Alicia said quickly. I raised my eyebrows at her, but all she did was continue to look at the ground.

“K, do you need a ride home?”

“No, I’ll have Dean pick me up, no worries. Bye!” Alicia exited the room before I had time to say anything else. And then she went off, again. She has to go when we’re on the phone, and she has to go when she’s at my house. What’s going on?

“Let’s all go downstairs. I’m starving.” Dylan said, rubbing her stomach. Kristen and Dylan headed toward the door.

“You coming?” Kristen asked. I caught myself just standing there, motionless, and I snapped out of it.

“Yeah, coming.”

I set the carrier containing 4 chai lattes down on our table and sat down. I took a long sip and began talking.

“Okay, so I was thinking that you could all come at around 5-ish to get ready for Mason’s party and we can take some pics. Sound good?” The PC nodded, except for Alicia who was smoothing down her hair and looking around the room.

“Leesh..sound good?” I said slowly.

“What? Oh, um, yeah. Sorry.”

I pulled out my phone, pretending to get a text from Mason, but instead, I texted Leesh.

MASSIE: Why are you being so nervous whenever I bring up Mason? Like, you have to eventually tell me what you have been meaning to tell me for over a week now!

ALICIA: I know! I haven’t had time. I’ll tell you, promise.

I was going to tell her to tell me now, but I decided to wait until she wanted to.

I tucked away my phone, and continued talking to the PC, pretending that nothing was bothering me.
